Continuing Education with Sara Turk, 500 E-RYT, YACEP
Cherry Blossom Yoga Continuing Education programs with Sara Turk emphasize a dedicated, regular practice of asana, pranayama, meditation, and exploration of theory. These lay the foundation upon which to grow your practice and/or teach from a place of experiential knowledge.
Throughout the various courses, sessions will include elements of theoretical and practical exploration of asana, as well as expanding your practice in the realm of Svadhyaya (self-study) through theory and philosophy discussions. While the fundamentals of teaching can be learned through education, there is an art to the presentation of a class that comes from within the individual, rooted in authenticity. A dedicated practice of yoga is critical to the continuing self-education of a teacher, yet one must also practice the art of teaching in order to develop the skills necessary to be a successful conveyer of yogic knowledge. Certain courses will provide opportunity to practice your teaching and/or observation skills in classes led by Sara Turk.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to register hours towards their RYT affiliation with Yoga Alliance.
Ashtanga / Mysore Intensive
For those looking to develop a regularity to their practice, understand the roots and philosophies of the Ashtanga lineage, or simply deepen their physical and theoretical practice, this course will provide such an opportunity through the practice of Ashtanga yoga.
The course will focus on the study and practice of Ashtanga asana (any series), as well as theoretical components addressing Western and Energetic Anatomy, Introduction to Ayurveda, Chanting, and philosophies regarding teacher-student relationships and additional yogic practices as it relates to the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga. While the two months will build on each other, you do not need to register for June in order to participate in July.
Participants will engage in 6 asana classes, plus 2 theory (discussion/lecture) classes per week. In addition, participants will be given the opportunity to observe either 1 Mysore or 1 conducted class per week (Sundays) as a way to deepen their understanding of the practice from the perspective of external observation.
Certified teachers registered in the intensive will be eligible for YA Continuing Education credits.
